Artemis Project Group Coaching: unlocking the full potentials of female mid-career academics!
To complement our individual 4 week introduction to coaching experience, and in-depth 9 session unlock next level performance, 1:1 coaching packages. From November (we're fully booked with grant coaching until then!) we'll be offering group coaching workshops and multi-session programmes for universities/faculties.
Coaching is proven to underpin higher performance, but isn't for everyone and can't solve all problems! Coaching, and the women centred method in particular, is designed to support participants to examine what has been holding them back, and then take action, particularly (for women-centred coaching) where the vision for change is at the self-actualising level i.e. not a simple, strategic change where the pathway is well established. If it was simple, if the path was clear and obstacle free, participants would have no problems implementing their visions; they are brilliant woman after all, who have already achieved so much!
Self actualisation means a vision for change to help achieve full human potentials. Abraham Maslow (adapted): "What I can become, I must". Often self actualisation means creating things that haven't been created before. A simple way to think about self-actualisation goals are those that are about being, rather than doing. Being more confident, being a world-leading researcher, being in control of your own destiny, being on a pathway to contribute everything you can to the world! This concept is encapsulated by the word Entelechy (pronounced en-TEL-uh-kee), a philosophical concept meaning how potentiality becomes actuality. It represents the vital force that drives an entity. Think of an acorn naturally actualizing into an oak tree, or a caterpillar becoming a butterfly; becoming its fully realised self.
RiF group coaching workshops are designed around the concept of creating a container (right soil, right nutrients, water, sunlight...) in which participants are supported to fully realise their potentials. Ideally stepping into readiness to make themselves visible as as world leading researchers, lead large grants, establish new fields, etc. but all sorts of other positive outcomes are possible!
You can read more about why a specific women-centred coaching method is needed, when it's NOT suitable, and the background research that the method is based on here.
If the method seems like something you need to bring to your university/faculty, your next step is to decide whether you want to host a one off workshop, or to develop a more in-depth programme of support that combines the best of your knowledge about what is holding your colleagues back (we can lead that conversation if you don't know!), with RiF's grant craft and Women Centred coaching model expertise.
One off events can be booked immediately here, or in both cases you are welcome to book a 30-minute discovery call to explore what the ideal first step might be. As part of our informal chat we'll develop an action plan so you'll be clear about the next steps regardless of whether, or not the underlying barriers seem to be coachable issues.
If our capabilities are well matched to your needs and therefore working together on a longer term programme support is attractive to all, Becky will outline what you can expect, how the method works as well as logistics such as timescales and fees. For complex programmes we'll collaborate on programme development to ensure your colleagues get what they need and our fees fit your budget.
What qualifies Becky to coach?
This work is informed by our own research and 25+ years supporting researchers, in addition to the PhD research and subsequent professional work of Dr Claire Zammit, now encapsulated within the services and training offered by the Institute for Women Centred Coaching (IWCC).
Becky (Dr Becky Steliaros, RiF's founder, and the passion behind this passion project) has become certified in the Foundations of Women Centred Coaching by the IWCC and is currently working towards her full Coaching and Facilitation Certification. You can read more about women-centred coaching here.
If the principles and practices of women centred coaching are not what you are looking for, you're needs will be better served by our standard services, which are based on generalist coaching approaches.
